Welcome!2010 has arrived and along with it, a huge snowstorm!! When the power went off @ 6:15 yesterday evening, I had a roast beef dinner and all the trimmings cooking away on the stove and 15 minutes until serving time. Ughhhh! Well, I gave everything an extra 15 minutes and it was perfection! We ate by candle light, with a roaring fire in the fireplace (1st of the season!). A true "Little House on the Prairie" moment! Dinner was followed by boardgames and plenty of chocolate - true bliss!! I was reading in bed (by candle light!) when the power came back on @ 10:23 (I had to reset the alarm clocks or the flashing ##'s would have driven me crazy!). I finished up my reading, blew out the candle and slept like a baby...until the snowplows dropped by!!! Enjoy your winter! cooky |

How to Add a Recipe to the SiteThe format has changed for our recipes - we now feature "Our Cookbook". To access, just click on "Our Cookbook" in the "Main Menu". Use the "Search" to track down certain ingredients or specific recipes. To submit your own recipes to the site, click on "Contact Us" in the "Main Menu". Enter your recipe, ensuring that all the measurements and ingredients are correct, and send it to me. I look forward to trying out some new dishes this summer - thanks for your input. cooky |

Create Your Own CookbookWith the new "all-page" recipes to use, I've gone through the "cookbook", printed off a selection of "must-tries", put each in it's own page protector and compiled it all it a big, fat, binder. Now, a few days before I head to the cottage, I'll gather together 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners (complete with sides) and 2 Desserts in a smaller binder and do up a grocery list for the weekend's menu. **Remember to take into consideration how many people you'll be serving (you may need to double some recipe ingredients) and always have an emergency stash on hand (cereal for breakfast, bread for sandwiches at lunch, dried pasta in the pantry for a quick dinner, etc.). . . . . . |

Secrets of a Family AlbumI picked up this one at my favourite church bazaar just before Christmas and I loved it! The story begins with Mattie, a mother of 3 grown children, preparing for the family Christmas dinner. As she makes her list her mind wanders and as a result we are introduced to the other family members and their circumstances. The oldest daughter, Lily, is married and living in London with her husband, Art. Next comes Marie . . . .
