Welcome!

It's almost the middle of July - hope everyone is enjoying their summer!  So far the weather has been pretty spectacular and the upcoming week is looking fairly good too.  Hubby is trying to schedule a trip down to the Lake this week/weekend to open up the cottage, put in the docks, etc. so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he can make it happen.  As for me, I'll be heading down once all the dirty work is done.  Until then, I'll stay put and keep experimenting with the BBQ.  Stay cool!

How to Add a Recipe to the Site

The format has changed for our recipes - we now feature "Our Cookbook".  To access, just click on "Our Cookbook" in the "Main Menu".  Use the "Search" to track down certain ingredients or specific recipes.

To submit your own recipes to the site, click on "Contact Us" in the "Main Menu".   Enter your recipe, ensuring that all the measurements and ingredients are correct, and send it to me.  I look forward to trying out some new dishes this summer - thanks for your input.

Create Your Own Cookbook

With the new "all-page" recipes to use, I've gone through the "cookbook", printed off a selection of "must-tries", put each in it's own page protector and compiled it all it a big, fat, binder.  Now, a few days before I head to the cottage, I'll gather together 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners (complete with sides) and 2 Desserts in a smaller binder and do up a grocery list for the weekend's menu.  **Remember to take into consideration how many people you'll be serving (you may need to double some recipe ingredients) and always have an emergency stash on hand (cereal for breakfast, bread for sandwiches at lunch, dried pasta in the pantry for a quick dinner, etc.). . . . . .

Heart and Soul

This lovely novel by Maeve Binchy was chock full of characters (you might just need a reference list to keep up!) in and around a new heart clinic in Dublin.  Clara Casey is the new director, with the huge responsiblity of not only setting up and running the clinic, but also dealing with a recent divorce and the busy, complicated lives of her 2 daughters . . . .

Rainy-Day Ideas

They all can't be sunny days at the cottage so you'd better be prepared.  Pack:

  • books for kiddies of all ages
  • arts and crafts supplies (the Dollar store has great stuff)
  • balloons (we've had birthday balloons last for months at our house)
